Four BW Softball Players Named All-OAC, Morgan is Rookie of Year

BEREA, Ohio – Four Baldwin Wallace University softball players were named as All-Ohio Athletic Conference selections and Yellow Jacket freshman pitcher Erica Morgan (Brook Park/ Midpark) has been named the OAC Rookie of the Year. 

Senior designated player Tabitha Murray (Mogadore/ Field) and junior first baseman Mackenzie Brua (Avon) were named to the first team.  Senior shortstop Lauren Feciuch (Kent/ Field) was tabbed as a second team selection and freshman third baseman DJ Rogers (Warren/ Champion) garners honorable mention accolades.

Morgan, became just the second BW freshman to earn Rookie of the Year (Murray was the other four years ago). She finished her inaugural campaign as the ace of the Yellow Jacket pitching staff with a team-best 8-6 record with a 3.21 earned run average (ERA).  She appeared in 18 games, including 12 starts, and had 63 strikeouts in 93.2 innings pitched  Morgan also had a .255 batting average with one double, three homeruns, two of which came in the final game of the season against Muskingum University, and seven runs batted-in (RBI).

Murray earned her third first-team and third overall All-OAC selection. She was the Rookie of the Year in 2011 and garnered first-team honors in 2011, 2013 and 2014.  This season, Murray, a four-year letter winner, led the team in hitting (.443) and doubles (11). She also compiled a 5-7 record on the mound with a 3.13 ERA and 55 strikeouts 76 innings of work.

Murray ended an illustrious career with a .419 batting average, 42 doubles, two triples, 23 homeruns and 103 RBI.  She also had 35 career wins on the mound with 344 strikeouts in 388.2 innings pitched.   Murray ranks in the Top-10 all-time in hitting in numerous categories, including second in hits (208), second in doubles (43), third in homeruns (23) and fifth in RBI (103). In pitching, Murray is third in strikeouts (344), fourth in wins (35/ 35-25 record) and fifth in innings pitched (388.2).

Brua earned her first All-OAC honor. She had her finest season as a collegian and batted a career-best .344 with career-highs in doubles (10), homeruns (9) and runs scored (36).  Brua's nine homers ranks tied for fifth all-time in BW single season history and tied her for second in the OAC this spring.

For her career, Brua is batting  .291 with 11 doubles, nine homers, 42 RBI, 57 runs scored and 397 putouts.

Feciuch earned her first second-team All-OAC accolade and second overall selection. She was tabbed honorable mention in 2011 and was selected to the OAC All-Tournament team that season.

For her career, Feciuch appeared in 134 games, including 132 starts, and batted .328 with 28 doubles, four triples, 13 homeruns, including two walk-off homers, one in the OAC Tournament Championship Game in 2011. She also scored 78 runs and was a perfect 16-for-16 in stolen base attempts. Feciuch also ranks among the all-time leaders in hitting as she is tied for sixth in homeruns (13) and ninth in doubles (28).  Feciuch also ranks on the all-time single season leaders as she is tied for third in doubles with 13.

Rogers earned her first All-OAC honor and made an immediate impact on the Yellow Jacket infield as she played in and started in all 37 games. She batted .272 with 17 runs scored, one homer, three doubles and 16 RBI.
