BEREA, OHIO – The Baldwin Wallace University softball team tried to stage a late-game comeback by scoring four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning, but eventually fell to The College of Wooster, 10-8, in the second game of a non-league doubleheader at the Cuyahoga County Fairgrounds Field.  This is the sixth doubleheader in six days for the Yellow Jackets.  BW won the first game, 8-3,  You can read about it here.

The doubleheader split drops BW to 18-14 overall.  Wooster improves to 14-14.

Junior All-Ohio Athletic Conference designated player Tabitha Murray (Mogadore/Field) gave the Yellow Jackets a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning with a two-run home run, her second of the day and team-high seventh of the season.

The Fighting Scots sent 11 batters to the plate in the top of the second inning and rallied for eight runs.  Wooster also added runs in the fourth and sixth frames.

BW loaded the bases in the fifth when senior right fielder Alyssa Brown (Hudson) hit a sacrifice fly, scoring Murray, who reached base on a fielder's choice.  Senior left fielder Ashley Elber (Huron/Edison) then hit a three-run home run, her second of the season, and cut the Wooster lead to 9-6.

A run batted-in single by Murray followed by a RBI ground out by senior Academic All-OAC third baseman Kaity Mullen (Avon Lake) scored a pair of runs and pulled BW to within 10-8, but Wooster retired the side in the seventh.

Murray led BW at the plate by going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs scored, and a stolen base.  Elber was 3-for-4 with three RBI and one run.
