BW Softball Drops First Game of Season to Texas Lutheran

TUCSON, ARIZ. -- The Baldwin Wallace University softball team lost its first game of the season when it was defeated by Texas Lutheran University, 4-0, at the Tucson Invitational Games at the Lincoln Park Softball Complex.
 
With the loss, the Yellow Jackets fell to 2-1 overall and will play its second game of the day when they face Alfred (N.Y.) University.   With the win, the Bulldogs improved to 10-5 overall.
 
After three scoreless, Texas Lutheran scored in each of its final four innings to secure the 4-0 victory.  Bulldog starting pitcher Megan Carmichael pitched the complete game shutout and silenced the BW bats for just three hits.
 
Offensively, the Yellow Jackets were led by junior All-Ohio Athletic player Tabitha Murray (Mogadore/Field) as she went 2-for-3.  Junior All-OAC third baseman Lauren Feciuch (Kent/Field) added the other hit as she went 1-for-3 with a double.
 
On the mound, BW utilized two pitchers in Murray and junior Nikki Peskura (Strongsville). Murray pitched six innings and allowed three runs on five hits with two strikeouts and two walks. Peskura pitched the seventh inning and allowed one run on one hit.
