Murray Earns Second OAC Weekly Honor

BEREA, OHIO --  Junior All-Ohio Athletic Conference pitcher/designated hitter Tabitha Murray (Mogadore/ Field) has been selected as the Ohio Athletic Conference Softball Hitter-of-the-Week

Murray, who earns her second career weekly honor as second of this spring, hit .529 and led the Yellow Jackets to a 5-1 record last week. She, who also is BW's ace of its pitching staff, had 10 base hits in 19 at-bats for a .526 batting average with eight runs scored, four doubles, two home runs and seven runs batted-in. She also drew five walks, had a .625 on-base average and a 1.086 slugging average. On the mound, Murray had a 4-1 record, including pitching a two-hit shutout of the University of Mount Union.

To date, Murray tops BW in hitting and pitching. At the plate, she is batting .491 (27-for-55) with 11 runs scored, a team-leading 10 doubles, two homers, 15 RBI and has a .594 on-base average and a .782 slugging average. On the mound, she has compiled an 11-4 record with eight complete games, four shutouts, a .270 earned run average, and she has struck out 82 batters in 85 and two-third innings of action.

The softball team is back in action this afternoon when it hosts Bethany (W.Va.) College in a non-conference doubleheader at the Cuyahoga County Fairgrounds Field at 3:30 p.m.   The team closes out its four doubleheader homestand tomorrow (Tuesday, April 9) when it hosts Capital University in an OAC doubleheader at 3:00 p.m.
