BEREA, OHIO – Junior All-Ohio Athletic Conference pitcher Tabitha Murray (Mogadore/ Field) pitched a complete-game 2-hitter and drove in a run with a single as the Baldwin Wallace University softball team defeated OAC-rival the University of Mount Union, 2-0, in the first game of a doubleheader at the Cuyahoga County Fairgrounds Field.
 
With its win, BW improves to 11-4 overall and 2-1 in the OAC and has won five straight games. With its loss, Mt. Union drops to 14-4 overall and 4-1 in the conference.

BW took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the third inning when freshman second baseman Alison Fiorucci (Seven Hills/Holy Name) hit her first career home run and increased her team-leading runs batted-in total to 15. After two outs,  BW scored its second run as junior third baseman Lauren Fecuiuch (Kent/Field) singled, advanced to second when junior left fielder Nikki Peskura (Strongsville) walked and scored when Murray singled.

On the mound, Murray pitched seven innings, allowed two base hits and no runs for her eighth complete game this season and fourth shutout. She struck out seven and walked two to improve to 11-3 overall.  At the plate, Murray, Fiorucci, Feciuch and Peskura each had a hit.  BW outhit the Purple Raiders, 4-2.

BW will continue a stretch of five doubleheaders in six days when it hosts non-league foe Bethany (W.Va.) College on Monday at 3:30 p.m. and then entertains OAC rival Capital University on Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. to end an eight-game homestand.
