Baldwin-Wallace Softball Team Completes Rebel Spring Games with an Undefeated Record

KISSIMMEE, FLA. -- The Baldwin-Wallace College softball team ended its annual spring break trip with a rain shortened perfect 8-0 record at the Rebel Spring Games.  The undefeated record marked the first time in school history that team did record a loss during the spring break trip. 

B-W was scheduled to play Catholic (D.C.) University and Bluffton University on Thursday, March 10 but rain washed out the entire day of action.  

The Yellow Jacket offense pounded out 83 hits, 12 doubles, three triples, two home runs and tallied 53 RBI and finished with a team batting average of .371.   B-W outscored its opponents 65-7. The Yellow Jackets were led by seniorKatrina Resek (Strongsville) with a .533 batting average with 16 hits, five RBI, 10 runs scored and a team-leading 10 stolen bases. Senior Tanya Davis (Hinckley/Medina Highland)  was second on the team with a .520 batting average with 13 hits, three doubles, five stolen bases and 12 RBI, which moved her into first all-time on the all-time list.

On the mound, the B-W pitchers combined for a team earned run average (ERA) of 0.89 while striking out 38 and walking just 10 batters. Freshman Justina Wise (New London) appeared in four games with three starts and ended with a 4-0 record. Wise pitched in 18.2 innings and allowed just one earned run on 10 hits with 20 strike outs and just one walk to finish with a 0.38 ERA. Junior Sarah Baker (Mentor/Lake Catholic) made three starts and finished with a record of 3-0.  Baker, who moved into a third place time on the all-time wins list, pitched in 15.0 innings and allowed three earned runs on 10 hits while striking out six and walking four to finish with a 1.40 ERA. 

The Yellow Jackets return to action and being their Northern schedule on Friday, March 18 when they travel to Defiance, Ohio to take on Defiance College in a non-conference doubleheader at 3:30 p.m.   B-W opens Ohio Athletic Conference schedule on Saturday, March 26 when it hosts Capital University in a doubleheader at the Cuyahoga County Fairgrounds Field at 1:00 p.m.
