B-W Softball Team Stays Undefeated With Two Wins on Day Four of the Rebel Spring Games

KISSIMMEE, FLA. -- The Baldwin-Wallace College softball team remained undefeated with a pair of victories today (Wednesday, March 8) over Mitchell (Conn.) College and Webster (Mo.) University on day four of the annual Rebel Spring Games at the Fortune Road Athletic Complex. 

B-W improved its record to 8-0 overall by defeating Mitchell, 9-1, in five innings and shut out Webster 9-0 in six innings.   The Yellow Jackets have outscored their opponents 65-7.

Against Mitchell, junior pitcher Sarah Baker (Mentor/Lake Catholic) improved her record to 3-0 and moved into a tie for third place on the all-time wins list with 34 career victories. The B-W offense pounded out 11 hits and was led by freshman right fielder Tabitha Murray (Mogadore/Field) who went 3-for-4 with a double, two RBI and a run scored. Seniors Katrina Resek (Strongsville) and Tanya Davis (Hinckley/Medina Highland)each went 2-for-4 with an RBI each while Baker also went 2-for-2 with two RBI. Resek swiped two bases and now has a team-leading 10 on the season.
In shutout of Webster, freshman pitcher Justina Wise (New London) allowed just four hits and struck out four batters to improve to 4-0 overall with three complete games and one win in relief. Wise now has 20 strikeouts and an earned run average of 0.38 in her four appearances. The Yellow Jacket offense once again had 11 hits and was led by freshman shortstop Lauren Feciuch (Kent/Field) who went 2-for-3 with her second triple of the season, two RBI and one run scored. Freshman left fielder Ashley Elber (Huron/Edison)went 2-for-4 with a double, an RBI and one run scored whileDavis also went 2-for-4 with an RBI, run scored and a stolen base.

B-W will conclude its spring break trip action tomorrow Thursday, March 10 when it will face Catholic (D.C.) University at 11:00 a.m. and Bluffton University at 3:00 p.m.   

The Yellow Jackets will begin their  Northern and Ohio Athletic Conference schedule on Saturday, March 26 when they hosts Capital University in a doubleheader at the Cuyahoga County Fairgrounds Field at 1:00 p.m.
