KISSIMMEE, FLA. -- The Baldwin-Wallace College softball team remained undefeated by posting a pair of victories today (Tuesday, March 8) over Wesley (Del.) College and Emmanuel (Mass.) College on day three of the annual Rebel Spring Games at the Oren Brown Park Field #1.
The Yellow Jackets defeated Wesley by a final score of 8-0 in six innings and then posted an 11-run victory in five innings over Emmanuel, 12-1 in the second game of the day.
Against Wesley, senior center fielder Tanya Davis (Hinckley/Medina Highland) went 2-for-3 with three RBI including a double to plate three runs in the B-W fifth inning. Senior Katrina Resek (Strongsville) went 2-for-4 with two RBI, two runs scored and a stolen base. Freshman pitcher Tabitha Murray (Mogadore/Field) recorded her first career win as she pitched six innings while striking out five and not surrendering a walk.
In the second game versus Emmanuel, the Yellow Jacket offense exploded for 12 runs on 15 hits. B-W had ten players collect at least one hit and was led by Resek who went 3-for-3 with an RBI, two runs scored and three stolen bases. Davis went 2-for-2 with two RBI, three runs scored and two stolen bases. Junior pitcher Sarah Baker (Mentor/Lake Catholic) recorded her second win of the season as she pitched four innings and struck out two. With her victory, Baker moved into a fifth place tie on the all-time wins list with 33.
With her five RBI today, Davis is now the all-time leader in Yellow Jacket history with 127 runs batted in. She already holds the school record for doubles with 44.
The Yellow Jackets are back in action tomorrow Wednesday, March 9 when they will play Mitchell (Conn.) College at 9:00 a.m. and then will face Webster (Mo.) University at 11:00 a.m.
