Baldwin-Wallace Softball Team Swept in Doubleheader at Ohio Wesleyan, 4-0 and 7-2

BEREA, OHIO-- The Baldwin-Wallace College softball team was swept in a doubleheader at Ohio Wesleyan University today (Thursday, April 1) by scores of 4-0 and 7-2 at Margaret Sagan Field in Delaware, Ohio.

The Yellow Jackets fall to 10-7 overall, while Ohio Wesleyan improves to 12-8. B-W is right back in action tomorrow (Friday, April 2) when they host Ohio Athletic Conference rival Marietta College in a twinbill at the Cuyahoga County Fairgrounds Field in Berea at 3:00 p.m.

In the first game, Ohio Wesleyan scored one run in the first, two in the second and one in the sixth.

At the plate, junior catcher Tanya Davis (Hinckley/Medina Highland) was two-for-three with a double and junior 1B Katrina Resek (Strongsville) had two hits.

Sophomore pitcher Sarah Baker (Mentor/ Lake Catholic) started and pitched six innings, giving up four runs (one earned) and struck out six. Baker is now 8-3 on the year with a 2.03 earned run average.

In the nightcap, OWU scored first with one in the bottom half of the opening frame. The Yellow Jackets took lead right back in the top of the second with two runs, but the Bishops answered with two in third to make the score 3-2. OWU added four runs in the fourth.

At the plate, senior shortstop Mallory Kobak (Independence) was two-for-four with a run batted-in and sophomore infielder Katie Finley (Vermilion) was two-for-three with an RBI.

On the mound, freshman Alysa Arcangelini (Brookpark/Holy Name) started her first collegiate game and took the loss, pitching three innings, allowing five runs (all earned) on seven hits. Junior Mackenzie Rohrbacher (Sandusky/Senior) came on in relief for the final three innings and gave up two unearned runs while striking out three.

Following tomorrow's doubleheader against Marietta, B-W resumes its schedule on Thursday, April 8 at non-league foe Ursuline College in a 3:30 p.m. twinbill and by playing twice at OAC and Cleveland cross-town rival John Carroll University on Saturday, April 10 at 1:00 p.m.
