BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College softball team split a doubleheader with Monmouth (Ill.) College and defeated Viterbo (Wisc.) University today (Wednesday, March 10, 2010) on its annual Spring Trip to the Tuscon Invitational Games in Tuscon, Arizona. B-W won game one versus Monmouth, 10-5, but lost the nightcap, 13-4. The Yellow Jackets defeated Viterbo, 4-3, in a make-up game.
In game one versus Monmouth, junior catcher Tanya Davis (Hinckley/Medina Highland) was 3-for-5 with two runs batted-in, junior shortstop Katrina Resek (Strongsville) was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI, and sophomore pitcher Sarah Baker (Mentor/Lake Catholic) was 1-for-3 with a double.
In game two versus Monmouth, sophomore outfielder Meredith Fogg (Sandusky/Senior) had a double and two RBI. Senior outfielder Chelsea Saunders (Medina/Highland) added a triple.
Versus Viterbo, senior third baseman Megan Coyne (Valley City/Keystone) and Fogg were each 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI. Baker also was 2-for-3.
The Yellow Jackets are scheduled to wrap up play at the Tuscon Invitational tomorrow. B-W plays Monmouth again at 10:00 a.m. and Cardinal Stritch (Wisc.) at 12:00 p.m. Each start-time is in the mountain time zone.
