B-W Softball Team Beats Monmouth (Ill.) and Cardinal Stritch (Wisc.) to Wrap Up Spring Trip

BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College softball team defeated Monmouth (Ill.) College, 10-2, and Cardinal Stritch (Wisc.) University, 19-4, on the final day (Thursday, March 11, 2010) of its annual Spring Trip to Tuscon, Arizona.

Versus Monmouth, junior catcher Tanya Davis (Hinckley/Medina Highland) was 2-for-3 with two homeruns, three runs scored, and a career-high six runs batted-in. Senior third baseman Megan Coyne (Valley City/Keystone) was 3-for-3 with a pair of doubles and an RBI. Senior outfielder Chelsea Saunders (Medina/Highland) was 2-for-3 with a double and junior first baseman Katrina Resek (Strongsville) was 2-for-3 with a triple and an RBI.

Versus Cardinal Stritch, sophomore second baseman Katie Finley (Vermilion) was 4-for-4 with two doubles, three runs and four RBI. Senior shortstop Mallory Kobak (Independence) was 4-for-5 with three runs, and Resek was 3-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.

B-W's first northern action also is its Ohio Athletic Conference opener on Saturday, March 27 at rival Capital University at 1:00 p.m. The Jackets also play a Sunday, March 28 doubleheader at Rio Grande College at 1:00 p.m. and open their home schedule versus the College of Wooster at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 30.
