Men's Cross Country 2022 Season Outlook

BEREA, Ohio - The Baldwin Wallace University men's cross country team under the direction of eighth-year head coach Joe Eby are ready to hit the course for the 2022-23 season. 

Coach Eby returns nine letterwinners and three Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference selections from last year's squad that finished seventh at the OAC Championships. The team will feature one senior, two juniors, seven sophomores and four freshmen.

Highlighting the returners are junior Academic All-OAC selection Nick Dascani (Toledo/Springfield) and sophomore Academic All-OAC Carter Almady (Brunswick). Dascani finished 68th at OAC Championship with 8k time of 27:55.0 and had career-best 8k time of 27:27.3 at NCAA Division III Great Lakes Region Championship . Almady placed 89th at the OAC Championship with a 8k time of 28:31.9 and had a career-best 8k time of 27:32.1 at Lehigh Paul Short Run.

Senior David Russo (DePew, N.Y.), who joins the squad after a succesful career at Houghton (N.Y.) University, will provide veteran leadership to a young BW team.  

Meanwhile, junior Lucas Simonetti (Pittsford, N.Y. /Sutherland) and sophomores Joe Kelly (Lakewood), Connor Foody (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny), Matt Perry (Mentor), Gehrig Stanley (Twinsburg /Benedictine), Jackson Tucker (Akron /Lake Center Christian School) and Robert Bolen (Mansfield/Ontario) look to move up in the OAC standings and have an impact of the starting line.

The Yellow Jackets open the 2022 campaign on September 1 when they travel to Wooster to compete in the annual College of Wooster Invitational on the L.C. Boles Memorial Golf Course.
