Baldwin Wallace Men's Basketball Team To Compete at ECAC Holiday Classic

BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin Wallace University men's basketball team enters to the 2010 Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference Holiday Classic in Kissimmee, Florida with a 4-7 overall record following an 86-76 victory against Waynesburg (Pa.) University on Wednesday, December 29 in Berea, Ohio.  The Yellow Jackets play in the rugged Ohio Athletic Conference and have an extremely young team that is guided by third-year Head Coach Duane Sheldon, a 1993 graduate of the College.

BW is led by 5'10" junior All-Ohio Athletic Conference point guard Promis Cabbil, who is scoring 11.1 points-per-game, has 39 assists and shoots 90.6 percent from the foul line on 48-of-53 attempts. Joining Cabbil in the backcourt have been 6'4" freshman Kevin Krakowiak (7.4 ppg. and 12 three-pointers) and 6'1" senior Zane Meeder (10.4 ppg., 3.0 rpg. with 33 assists and 13 treys).  On the inside, 6'6" freshman forward and leading scorer Kyle Payne (16.6 ppg., 5.7 rpg. and 55.2% FG shooting) teams with 6'6" sophomore Chris Ameen (9.6 ppg., and 6.0 rpg.).  


Off the bench, look for 6'9" freshman center Aaron Selmek (2.5 ppg. and 2.7 rpg.) to be joined by 6'5" sophomore Sean Rothermel (3.0 ppg. and 1.7 rpg.) and 6�3� sophomore Scott Branchick (1.7 ppg. and 1.5 rpg.).  Look for 6'2" sophomore Ben Umbel (3.5 ppg. and 2.4 rpg.), 6'3" sophomore Brandon Schmidt (2.8 ppg.) and 6'4" junior Scott Voiers (2.1 ppg.) to play either guard or forward. Look for 6'1" freshman guard Grant Fairhurst (4.0 ppg. and 10 three-pointers) to back up Meeder. At the point, look for 5'9" junior Matt Triana (4.3 ppg.) and 5'11" senior Taylor Roth (1.1 ppg.) to back up
Cabbil.

Traditionally, the BW program has been one of the OAC's best for the past four decades, including appearances in the NCAA Division III National Tournament five times since 1993.

Following its trip to Florida, BW resumes OAC play on Saturday, January 8 when it hosts traditional OAC and NCAA Division III power Capital University in the Rudolph Ursprung Gymnasium in the Lou Higgins Center at 4:00 p.m. The game is the nightcap of a women's and men's doubleheader.
