Jim Hilvert enters his eighth season as the head football coach at Baldwin Wallace University in 2024.  Hilvert was named the fourth head coach since 1957 on January 17, 2017.

He came to BW after serving as the head football coach at La Salle High School in Cincinnati for two seasons (2015 & 2016). At La Salle, Hilvert led the Lancers back-to-back Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) Division II State Championships.  He had a record of 26-4 and an .867 winning percentage. 

Prior to coaching at La Salle, Hilvert served as the head football coach at Thomas More (Ky.) College from 2007-14. He amassed a 67-19 record with a .779 winning percentage, which at the time made him of one of the winningest active coaches in the NCAA. Thomas More appeared in four straight NCAA Division III National Playoffs from 2008-11 and won six President's Athletic Conference (PAC) titles. 

Prior to Thomas More, Hilvert was an assistant head coach and defensive coordinator at the College of Mount St. Joseph (now Mount St. Joseph University) in Cincinnati.

He earned a bachelor of science in political science from Saint Joseph’s College in Indiana in 1993 and a master’s degree in sports administration from Western Michigan University in 1997. 

Hilvert and his wife Jennifer have three children.
