Football Suffers First Loss of Season to No. 3 Mount Union

ALLIANCE, OHIO – The Baldwin Wallace University football team suffered its first loss of the season as it fell to No. 2 nationally-ranked and defending Ohio Athletic Conference champion the University of Mount Union in an OAC game by a final score of 31-7inside Mount Union Stadium.

BW (2-1, 1-1 OAC) falls to 37-21-1 in the all-time series against Mount Union (2-0, 1-0 OAC).

Offensively for the Yellow Jackets, junior Academic All-OAC quarterback Keagan Armitage (Ashland) completed 14-of-25 passes for 140 yards with one touchdown.  Junior All-OAC running back Jon Murray, Jr. (Cincinnati/Withrow) led the ground attack with 84 yards on 17 carries.  Senior Darius Stokes (Canton/GlenOak) led the receiving corps for the third straight game as he caught six passes for 56 yards.  Senior Academic All-OAC tight end Andrew Cregan (Navarre/Strasburg-Franklin) caught three passes for 23 yards with his first collegiate touchdown.  Defensively, senior Academic All-OAC linebacker Nick Pankow (Medina) tallied a game-high tying seven tackles.

The Purple Raiders were led on the offensive side by junior All-OAC quarterback Braxton Plunk as he completed 29-of-43 passes for 321 yards with one touchdown.  Senior All-OAC running back Josh Petruccelli led the rushing attack with 70 yards on 13 carries with one touchdown and caught one touchdown. Junior running back DeAndre Parker rushed 64 yards on 11 carries with two touchdowns.  Senior All-OAC wideout Wayne Ruby, Jr. led the aerial assault with 10 catches for 128 yards.

BW opens the home portion of it schedule on Saturday, September 25 as it hosts an OAC game against No. 22 nationally-ranked Heidelberg University on the Tressel Field inside the George Finnie Stadium at 1:30 p.m.
