Football Upsets No. 22 Heidelberg, Wins Home Opener

BEREA, OHIO – The Baldwin Wallace University football team dominated and upset No. 22 nationally-ranked Heidelberg University in an Ohio Athletic Conference and home opening game by a final score of 20-10 on the Tressel Field inside the George Finnie Stadium.

BW (3-1, 2-1 OAC) improves to 50-24 in the all-time series while head coach Jim Hilvert remains undefeated at 4-0 against Heidelberg (3-1, 2-1 OAC).

Offensively for the Yellow Jackets, junior Academic All-OAC quarterback Keagan Armitage (Ashland) completed 9-of-12 passes for 103 yards with one touchdown.  Junior All-OAC running back Jon Murray, Jr. (Cincinnati/Withrow) led the ground attack with a game-high 113 yards on 25 carries with one touchdown. Senior quarterback Jack Gibbons (Willoughby/Lake Catholic) rushed for a career-high 103 yards on 21 carries.  Senior Darius Stokes (Canton/GlenOak) led the receiving corps for the fourth straight game as he caught three passes for 50 yards with a 33-yard touchdown.  Defensively, senior Academic All-OAC linebacker Nick Pankow (Medina) tallied 12 tackles and two quarterback hurries.

The Student Princes were led on the offensive side sophomore All-OAC quarterback Drew Sims as he completed 17-of-33 passes for 211 yards with two interceptions. Senior running back Jace Grossman led the ground game with 103 yards on 17 carries with one touchdown.  Senior All-OAC wideout Maceo Matthews, Jr. led the air attack with five catches for 72 yards.  Defensively, All-OAC and Academic All-OAC defensive lineman Tyler Turek had a game-high 15 tackles.
