Women’s Volleyball Splits OAC Doubleheader with Crosstown Rival John Carroll

UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio  -- The Baldwin Wallace University women's volleyball team spilt an Ohio Athletic Conference doubleheader with crosstown rival John Carroll University inside the Tony DeCarlo Varsity Center.

John Carroll (5-6, 5-6 OAC) won the first match by scores of 25-21, 25-15, 16-25 and 25-14.  BW (6-5, 6-5 OAC) won the second match on straight sets by scores of 25-18, 25-13 and 25-21. 

Match 1
The Yellow Jacket offense was led by junior All-OAC and Academic All-OAC outside hitter Ivy Earl (Howell, Mich.), who is this week's OAC Offensive Player of the Week, with a team-high 14 kills.  Senior All-OAC and Academic all-OAC right side hitter Alexis Garrett (Mentor) and junior Academic All-OAC outside hitter Cecelia Stebel (Union/Northmont) each contributed 12 kills.  Senior All-OAC setter Kathleen Egan (Cleveland/Beaumont) set up the attack with a match-best 43 assists.  Senior All-OAC and Academic All-OAC libero Sarah Reinhard (Willoughby/South) anchored the defensive line with 17 digs.   Earl helped the defensive unit with 12 digs.+ 

Match 2
Earl led the offensive attack for the fourth straight match with a match-high 14 kills.  Stebel rounded out the double figure attack with 12 kills.  Egan once again ran the offense with a match-best 25 assists.  Earl keyed the defensive unit with a match-high 11 digs.

BW closes out the week when it hosts an OAC doubleheader against Wilmington College in the Ursprung Gymnasium inside the Lou Higgins Center at 6 p.m.
