UNIONTOWN, Ohio – Four Baldwin Wallace University volleyball student-athletes have been selected to the All-Ohio Athletic Conference team.

Junior right side hitter Ellen Hawkins (Worthington/Thomas Worthington) and sophomore outside hitter Alicia Lortcher (Norwalk) were first-team selections while senior middle hitter Nikolette Scruggs (Barberton) and freshman setter Shannon Ott (Milan/Edison) were tabbed as honorable mention selections.

Hawkins, who earned her first All-OAC selection, had her best season as a collegian in 2016.   She appeared in all 30 matches and recorded career-bests in hitting percentage (.345), kills (305), digs (82) and service aces (20).  Hawkins was first on the team and fourth in the OAC in hitting percentage and second on the team and fourth in the OAC in kills.   For her career, Hawkins has appeared in 68 matches and has recorded 463 kills, 124 digs, 88 blocks, 28 service aces and 15 assists.

Lortcher, the OAC Freshman of the Year in 2015, was selected to the first-team after being tabbed as a second-team selection a season ago.   She led the team and was second in the OAC with career-high 378 kills and was first in the OAC in kills per set at 4.15.  Lortcher ranked second on the team and eighth in the OAC with a career-best 381 digs.  In two season, she has recorded 753 digs, 751 kills, 73 blocks, 61 service aces and 19 assists.

Scruggs earned her second straight honorable mention accolade after transferring to BW a season ago.  She had her best season in the Brown and Gold as she recorded career-highs in kills (289), digs (85), blocks (67), service aces (35) and assists (9.).  Scruggs finished her career with 504 kills, 168 digs, 133 blocks, 62 service aces and 14 assists.  Off the court, she is a Dean's List student and a member of the Chi Alpha Sigma honor society.

Ott garners her first OAC selection after leading the team and finishing second in the OAC in both assists (1,035) and assists per set (10.56).   In addition, she appeared in all 30 matches and recorded 151 digs, 29 kills, 21 blocks and 20 service aces.  

BW finished the 2016 season with an overall record of 24-6 and a fifth place finish in the OAC with a mark of 5-4.   The Yellow Jackets advanced to their first OAC Tournament semifinal appearance since the 2011 campaign.
