BW Volleyball Rallies for OAC Opening Victory

NEW CONCORD, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University volleyball team rallied to win its five set match against Muskingum University in the Ohio Athletic Conference opener for both squads on Performance Court.

The Yellow Jackets (13-8, 1-0 OAC), who have won three out of the last five OAC openers, including two straight against the Fighting Muskies (14-9, 0-1 OAC), defeated Muskingum by scores of 19-25, 25-23, 17-25, 27-25 and 15-13.

Senior middle hitter Markema Winters (Akron/Firestone) led the BW offensive attack with 11 kills.  Freshman outside hitter Lauryn Wright (Orrville) was a close second with 10.

Senior Katie Primeau (Pemberville/Eastwood) and sophomore Sydney Robinson (Silver Lake/Cuyahoga Falls) and set up the offense with 25 and 16 assists respectively.

Sophomore libero Arlayna Newcomer (Norwalk/St. Paul) led the defense with a career-high 48 digs.  Freshman outside hitter Melissa Metz (Medina/Our Lady of the Elms) and senior defensive specialist Paige Pileski (Elyria) each contributed 24.
