Volleyball Team Falls to Case Western Reserve, 3-0, in Berea

BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College volleyball team lost 3-0 to Cleveland crosstown rival Case Western Reserve University tonight (Wednesday, September 15) at Ursprung Gymnasium in Berea. The loss snapped an eight match Yellow Jacket winning streak.

The Spartans beat the Yellow Jackets by scores of 25-16, 25-14, and 25-17. B-W is now 9-3 overall on the season, while CWRU improves to 6-3.

Leading the way offensively for B-W was sophomore middle hitter
Rachel Switalski (North Royalton/Holy Name) with seven kills. In addition, freshman rightside player Shannon Deleur (Olmsted Falls) had three kills along with eight digs. Both Switalski and Deleur had two blocks.

Senior setter and co-captain
Casey Passen (Ashville/Teays Valley) led the team with 10 set assists. Sophomore libero and co-captain Natalie Emmons (Ashland/Senior) had 15 digs on the night and junior defensive specialist Amanda Mass (North Royalton) had 11 digs.  

This Friday and Saturday, Sept. 17-18, BW will be on the road for the Salisbury Seagull Classic in Salisbury, Maryland. B-W matches on Friday are at 5:00 versus Gallaudet (D.C.) University and at 7:00 p.m. versus Salisbury (Md.) University.  On Saturday, B-W plays at 10:00 a.m. against Eastern (Pa.) University and an opponent to be named in a play-off round at 12:00 p.m.

Following the Salisbury Seagull Classic, B-W will be on the road to face off against Hiram College on Wednesday, Sept. 22 at 7:00 p.m. B-W opened up the regular season against Hiram in which the Yellow Jackets swept the Terriers 3-0.
