Rodriguez and Laughner Earn OAC Athlete of the Week Honors

WESTERVILLE, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University women's track and field senior All-Ohio Athletic Conference and Academic All-OAC distance runner Alyssa Laughner (Howard, Pa./Central Mountain) and junior All-OAC thower Abby Rodriguez (Grandview, Wash. / Prosser) has been named OAC track/field athlete of the week.

For the second time this season and the third time in her career, Laughner has been named OAC track athlete of the week. Laughner won the 3000-meter steeplechase this past weekend at the Carnegie Mellon (Pa.) Invitational in a time of 11:16.60. She is currently ranked first in the OAC for her 3000-meter steeplechase performance as well as fourth in the nation.

For the first time this season and the first time in her career, Rodriguez has been named OAC field athlete of the week. Rodriquez comes off this past week at the Carnegie Mellon (Pa.) Invitational placing second in shot put with 12.76m and finished eighth in discus throw with a new personal best record of 35.93m. She is currently ranked first in shot put and third in discus in the OAC. Nationally, She is ranked eighth in shot put and 50th in discus.

The Yellow Jackets are back in action Saturday, April 2nd at Oberlin Invitational on Robert Lewis Kahn Track.
