Women's Track and Field Compete Across Town at the Oberlin Spring Opener

OBERLIN, Ohio - The Baldwin Wallace University women's track and field team competed at the Oberlin Spring Opener on Robert Lewis Kahn Track. 

The Yellow Jackets individual events highlights included: 

  • Sophomore All-OAC distance runner Hope Murphy (Mogadore) won the 5000-meter run in a time of 17:30.96.
  • Junior Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference selection Maddie Miller (Medina) won the 3000-meter steeplechase in a time of 12:22.30.
  • Freshman Jaelyn Jaquay (Cherry Valley, N.Y. / Springfield Central) finished in eighth place in the 1500-meter run with a time of 5:12.37 and placed 14th in the 800-meter run in a time of 2:40.63
  • Sophomore Kamaria Montgomery (Louisville / Canton GlenOak) placed sixth in the 400-meter dash in a time of 1:06.86
  • Sophomore Lexie Gozdan (Canton / Massillon Perry) finished ninth in the 100-meter dash in a time of 13.71 seconds. 
  • Senior All-OAC Ky'leana Allen (Columbus / Bishop Hartley) placed 10th in the 200-meter dash with a time of 28.84 seconds. 

Field event highlights:

  • Freshmen Ellie Leeds (Lockport, N.Y. / Akron Central School) placed sixth in high jump with a height of 1.36m.
  • Freshman Grace Beil (Boardman) finished second in the long jump with a distance of 4.71m.
  • Freshman Catherine Dial (Cleveland / Saint Joseph Academy) placed fourth in hammer throw with a distance of 44.63m.
  • Freshmen Karah Boesel (Nova / Mapleton) finished 7th in javelin throw with a distance of 16.50m.
  • Freshmen Abby Lorincz (Avon) placed fourth in the triple jump with a distance of 10.17m.
  • Freshman Lilly Johns (Garrestville / James A. Garfield) finished third in discus throw with a distance of 38.54m.

 On the Relay Side:

  • The 4x400 meter team of Murphy, Collier, freshmen All-OAC Julie Childers (Kempton, Ind. / Tri-Central), freshmen Kenni Voytek (Valley View / Cuyahoga Heights) and freshmen All-OAC Sam Varga (Louisville / Lake Center Christian) placed second in a time of 4:27.61. 

The Yellow Jackets are back in action Saturday, April 9th when it travels to Delaware for Marv Frye Invitational hosted by Ohio Wesleyan on George Gauthier Track.
