Laughner Named OAC Track Athlete of the Week

WESTERVILLE, Ohio – For the first time this season and the second time in her career, senior All-OAC and Academic All-OAC distance runner Alyssa Laughner (Howard, Pa./Central Mountain) has been named OAC track athlete of the week.

Laughner won the one-mile run this past weekend at the All-Ohio Indoor Championships in a time of 5:05.20. At the Mid-February Meet on Friday, hosted at BW, Laughner won the 5000m race in 17:53. She is currently ranked first in the OAC for her one-mile run time of 5:04.17 from Oberlin BSN Invitational. She is also ranked second for her times in the 1000m at 3:07.05 and 5000m at 17:53.22. She is highlighted for being third in 3000m and seventh in the 800m as well.

Laughner was recently named USTFCCCA Women's All-Academic Athlete. To be eligible for this distinction, individuals must have a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher and have finished in the top 25 percent of their respective regional championship meet.

BW returns to the track on Friday, February 18 when it travels to Cleveland to compete in the Ed Finnegan Greater Cleveland Colleges Invitational, hosted by Case Western Reserve in the Veale Center Fieldhouse at 2:00 p.m.
