Women's Track and Field Competes at Carnegie Mellon (Pa.) Invitational

PITTSBURGH, Pa. - The Baldwin Wallace University women's track and field team competed at the Carnegie Mellon Invitational inside Gesling Stadium. 

 On the track highlights include:

  • Senior All-American Alyssa Laughner (Howard, Pa./Central Mountain) placed first in the 3000-meter steeplechase with a time of 11:16.60. 
  • Sophomore All-Ohio Athletic Conference distance runner Hope Murphy (Mogadore) placed second in the 1500-meter with a time of 4:43.71. 
  • Freshmen Maura Devine (Baden, Pa. / Ambridge Area) finished 30th in the 800-meter with a time of 2:38.46.
  • Freshmen Kenni Voytek (Valley View / Cuyahoga Heights) finished seventh in the 200-meter dash in a time of 28.88 seconds and placed 13th in the 400-meter dash in a time of 1:06.84.
  • Senior Nina Curry (North Olmsted) placed 22nd in the 100-meter dash in a time of 16.93 seconds. 
  • Freshmen Ellie Burns (Louisville,Ky. / Assumption) finished 16th in the 3000-meter in a time of 12:27.50. 

Field event highlights:

  • Junior All-OAC Abby Rodriguez (Grandview, Wash. / Prosser) placed second in shot put with a distance of 12.76m. 
  • Freshman Lilly Johns (Garrestville / James A. Garfield) placed fifth in discus throw with a distance of 37.34m. 
  • Freshmen Ellie Leeds (Lockport, N.Y. Akron Central School) finsihed sixth in high jump with a height of 1.33m and placed ninth in triple jump with a distance of 8.88m
  • Freshman Catherine Dial (Cleveland / Saint Joseph Academy) finished 11th in hammer throw with a distance of 42.02m. 
  • Freshmen Abby Lorincz (Avon) finished in 12th in long jump with a distance of 4.48m. 

On the Relay Side:

The Yellow Jackets are back in action Saturday, April 2nd at Oberlin Invitational on Robert Lewis Kahn Track.
