Women's Indoor Track and Field Placed Fifth at the All-Ohio Indoor Championships

WESTERVILLE, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University women's indoor track and field team competed in the All-Ohio Indoor Championships, hosted by Otterbein University in the Clements Recreation Center.

BW placed 5th out of 16 participating teams with 45 points. Fellow Ohio Athletic Conference member University of Mount Union won the meet with 187 points. 

On the track highlights include:

  • Senior All-OAC and Academic All-OAC distance runner Alyssa Laughner (Howard, Pa./Central Mountain) is the All-Ohio one-mile run champion in a time of 5:05.20.
  • Sophomore All-OAC distance runner Hope Murphy (Mogadore) is the All-Ohio the 800-meter dash champion in a time of 2:19.02.
  • Junior Maddie Miller (Medina) placed eighth in the 5000m in a time of 19:37.32.
  • Freshman Jaelyn Jaquay (Cherry Valley, N.Y. / Springfield Central) placed 11th in the 3000m in a time of 11:03.78 
  • Freshmen Abby Collier (Dublin / Coffman) placed second in the 400-meter dash in a time of 1:01.71 seconds and 10th in the 200m with a time of 27.20 seconds.

Field event highlights:

  • Junior All-OAC Abby Rodriguez (Grandview, Wash. / Prosser) finished second in shot put with a distance of 12.57m
  • Senior Gloria Jurcisek (Cleveland / Normandy) placed 11th in the high jump at a height of 1.77m.
  • Junior Elizabeth Schultz (North Olmsted) placed seventh in weight throw with a distance of 14.77m.

On the Relay Side:

  • The 4x400 meter team of Collier, Freshmen Makenna Voytek (Valley View / Cuyahoga Heights), freshman Sam Varga (Valley View / Cuyahoga Heights) and Murphy placed fourth with a time of 4:16.42.

BW returns to the track on Friday, February 18 when it travels to Cleveland to compete in the Ed Finnegan Greater Cleveland Colleges Invitational, hosted by Case Western Reserve in the Veale Center Fieldhouse at 2:00 p.m.
