AUSTINTOWN, Ohio - For the second time this season, Baldwin Wallace University senior All-Ohio Athletic Conference distance runner Hastings Marek (Pataskala/Watkins Memorial) has been named the OAC Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week.

Leading the Yellow Jackets to a second-place finish at Sunday's Mid-February Meet, Marek wrote her name on the school record books when she won the 1,000-meter run in a career-best and school-record time of 3:00.92. The senior improved on the previous record, set by Kelly Brennan in 2020, by over one full second. Marek also anchored the winning distance medley relay and helped the team to an overall time of 12:11.92, which was also the fifth-fastest in school history and is currently the second-fastest in all of NCAA Division III this season.

For her indoor career, Marek is an All-Ohio performer in the 5,000-meter run and an All-OAC performer in the distance medley relay. She also was named the OAC Women's Track Athlete of the Week on February 8.

BW will be back in action on Saturday, February 27, at 10 a.m. in a tri-meet hosted by the University of Mount Union inside the Peterson Field House.
