Women's Track and Field Takes Fifth at All-Ohio Championships

DELAWARE, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University women's outdoor track and field team took fifth at the All-Ohio Championships hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University on the George Gauthier Track.

BW finished fifth of 17 teams with 70 team points. Ohio Wesleyan won the All-Ohio Championships with 111 points.

The women were led by senior hurdler Lyndsey Armstrong (Ashtabula/Geneva) and freshmen distance runners Kelly Brennan (Akron/Walsh Jesuit) and Claire Makowski (Bethel Park, Pa.) as they each won their respective events. Armstrong won the 100-meter hurdles with a career-best time of 15.01 seconds, Brennan finished first in the 800-meter run with a time of 2 minutes 17.31 seconds and Makowski won the 10,000-meter with a time of 42:17.78.

Along with Makowski in the 10,000-meter run freshmen distance runners Hannah Nagy (Belmont/Linsly) and Hannah Allenson (Lakewood) took eighth and 10th. Nagy crossed the line at the 46:21.89 mark and Allenson finished in a career-best time of 46:49.14. Brennan also placed fourth in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:49.20. Sophomore sprinter Grace Nemeth (Medina) finished ninth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.91 seconds.

In the shot put event, senior All-OAC thrower Kasey Clouse (Norwalk/Western Reserve) placed second with a toss of 41' 8'' and junior thrower Madeline Ziccardi (Cuyahoga Falls) finished sixth with a career-best mark of 39' 5''. In the discus, Clouse earned a fifth place finish with toss of 131' 4'' and freshman thrower Brooke Buckhannon (Collins/Western Reserve) finished seventh with a mark of 129'. Ziccardi also earned a fifth place finish in the hammer throw with a throw of 150'. Junior Madison Phillips (Norwalk/St. Paul) finished 10th in the javelin throw with a toss of 100' 3''. Senior All-Ohio Athletic Conference jumper Erin Kasper (Amherst/Marion Steele) finished third in the high jump, sixth in the triple jump and eighth in the long jump. Kasper recorded leaps of 5'3.25'' in the high jump, a career-best mark of 35'8.5'' in the triple jump and 16'10.5'' in the long jump.

In relay action, the 4x100-meter team of Armstrong, Nemeth, junior sprinter Rachel Tucker (Canton/McKinley) and freshman sprinter Beth Plas (LaGrange/Keystone) finished eighth with a season-best time of 51.60 seconds. Armstrong, senior sprinter Jasmine Moore (Cleveland Heights), freshman distance runner Annie Quisno (Port Clinton/Oak Harbor) and Brennan teamed up for a ninth place finish in the 4x4000-meter relay with a season-best time of 4:08.60.

The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Friday and Saturday, April 21-22 when they host the annual Sparky Adams Invitational inside George Finnie Stadium. The hammer throw will be contested Friday afternoon at the Cuyahoga Fairgrounds throwing area and all other action begins on Saturday at 11 a.m.
