Winters and Clouse Win Titles as Women's Tracksters Stand Fifth After First Day of OAC Championships

WILMINGTON, Ohio – Senior five-time outdoor All-American multi-event athlete Melanie Winters (Stow/Stow-Munroe Falls) and junior All-Ohio Athletic Conference thrower Kasey Clouse (Norwalk/Western Reserve) each claimed an OAC title as the Baldwin Wallace University women's outdoor stands fifth after the first day of competition at the Ohio Athletic Conference Championships hosted by Wilmington College inside Williams Stadium.

Winters won the long jump with an OAC-record and school-record mark of 19 feet and 11 inches to earn her ninth outdoor All-OAC honor and her ninth OAC title.  Clouse won the discus with a mark of 139'6" to claim her second outdoor All-OAC accolade. 

The eighth-nationally ranked Yellow Jackest are currently fifth of 10 teams with 32.5 points.  Six-time defending champion the University of Mount Union leads after the first day with 60 points. The top three indiviudals and top three relay teams earn All-OAC honors.   

In addition, senior All-American thrower Kim Gallavan (Auburnn Township/Kenston) was the runner-up in the discus with a season-best mark of 137'10" to earn her sixth career All-OAC honor.  Junior jumper Erin Kasper (Amherst/Marion Steele) took fifth in the long jump with a career-best mark of 18'3.25". Freshman vaulter Abby Weagraff (Cochranton, Pa. /Meadville) tied for eighth in the pole vault with a career-best mark of 10'4.75".

BW is back in action on Saturday, April 25 for the second and final day of competition at the OAC Championships.  Field events start at 10 a.m. with running events slated to begin at 2:30 p.m.
