Winters OAC Field Athlete of Year; Team Finishes Fourth

ALLIANCE, Ohio – Junior Division III All-Americans Melanie Winters (Stow/ Stow-Munroe Falls) and Kim Gallavan (Auburn Township/ Kenston) led the Baldwin Wallace University women's outdoor track and field team to a fourth place finish at the 2015 Ohio Athletic Conference Championship Meet, hosted by the University of Mount Union and Mount Union Stadium.

Winters won the long jump with a school-record leap of 19'2.5", the high jump at 5'6" and the 200-meter dash in 24.80 seconds. She also was a member of the fourth place 4x100-meter relay team and placed sixth in the 100-meter hurdles in 15.73 seconds. For her efforts, she earned the 2015 OAC Field Athlete of the Year award. A year ago, Winters was the OAC Sprinter of the Year.

Gallavan won the discus with a career-best throw of 159'11" and placed second in the shot put with a season-best throw of 45'10" and placed third in the hammer with a throw of 159'9". A year ago, Gallavan was the OAC Thrower of the Year.

In addition and winning an OAC title was junior Maggie Urban (Cleveland/ St. Joseph Academy) won the hammer throw with OAC Championships-record toss of 173'3". Also earning All-OAC honors were sophomore Kasey Clouse (Norwalk/ Western Reserve), who was second in the discus with a throw of 142'2.5" and freshman Erin Kasper (Amherst/ Steele) was third in the high jump at 5'2.5".

BW is back in action next Friday and Saturday, May 1-2 when select Yellow Jacket competitors travel to Columbus to compete at the annual Jesse Owens Invitational Meet at The Ohio State University on the Jesse Owens Track.
