Women’s Tennis Falls to Otterbein in OAC Tournament Semifinals to Close Out Season

MIAMISBURG, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University women's tennis team closed out the season as it fell to Otterbein University in an Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament semifinal match sponsored by Skyline Chili by a final score of 5-0 at the South Regency Tennis Center.

BW (6-12), who was the fourth seed, and Otterbein (15-6), who was the regular season champion and top seed, were scheduled to play at the Lindner Family Tennis Center but had to move indoors due to inclement weather. 

Doubles Action (OTT, 3-0)

  • Sophomore All-OAC player Gabriela Heideman (Doylestown/Wadsworth) and sophomore Kierstyn Yates (Grafton/Midview) fell at first doubles by a score of 8-0
  • Senior All-OAC and Academic All-OAC player Ashtyn Morris (Salem) and junior Academic All-OAC performer Lizzy Cole (Shaker Heights) fell at second doubles by a final score of 8-1
  • Freshmen Mattie Hicks (Oneida, N.Y.) and Hanna LeMaster (Avon) fell at third doubles by a score of 8-5

  • Morris dropped her match by identical scores of 6-1
  • Heideman was trailing in her match by scores of 6-3 and 2-1 when match was decided
  • Yates dropped her match by scores of 6-0 and 6-1
  • LeMaster was trailing in her match by scores of 6-3 and 1-0 when match was decided
  • Freshman Emma Trost (Norwalk) was trailing in her match by a score of 3-0 when match was decided
  • Cole did not start her match when match was decided
