BEREA, Ohio -- The Baldwin Wallace University women's tennis team shut out Capital University in an Ohio Athletic Conference and Seniors' and Parents' Day match by a final score of 9-0 on the Pop Collins Tennis Courts.
BW (7-10, 3-4 OAC) won all three doubles matches against Capital (1-11, 0-6 OAC). Sophomore All-OAC player Imani Robinson (Cincinnati/School for Creative & Performing Arts) and freshman Liz Radkiewicz (Powell/Olentangy Liberty) won at first doubles by a score of 8-2. Senior Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference player Claire Watts (Medina/Highland) and freshman Emily Dahnert (Charlottesville, Va. /The Covenant School) picked up the win at second doubles by a score of 8-0. Senior Hayley Geronimo (Erie, Pa./Villa Maria Academy) and sophomore Kathleen Moser (Strongsville) took third doubles by a score of 8-0.
The Yellow Jackets won all six singles matches to complete the shutout. Robinson won at first singles by identical scores of 6-0. Watts captured second singles by scores of 6-0 and 6-2. Radkiewicz took third singles by scores of 6-1 and 6-0. Peskura secured fourth singles by identical scores of 6-0. Finkenthal earned the victory at fifth singles by scores of 7-5 and 6-3. Geronimo won at sixth singles by identical scores of 6-0.
BW is back in action on Tuesday, April 25 when it closes out the home portion of its regular season schedule with a non-conference match against NCAA Division Notre Dame College on the Pop Collins Tennis Courts at 4 p.m. The Yellow Jackets close out the OAC portion of its schedule on Saturday, April 29 when they travel to New Concord for a match against Muskingum University on the Muskie Courts at 1 p.m.
