BW Women’s Tennis Team Splits a Pair of OAC Matches

MASON, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University women's tennis team split a pair of Ohio Athletic Conference dual matches at the world-renown Linder Family Tennis Center.

The Yellow Jackets (5-12, 4-2) lost the fiirst match of the day to Ohio Northern University (13-3, 4-0) by a score of 9-0 and then shut out Muskingum University (1-6, 0-4 OAC) by a score of 9-0.

In its match versus Muskingum, BW won all three doubles matches to build a 3-0 lead and won all six singles matches to clinch the victory.

In doubles play, the No.1 duo of junior All-OAC and Academic All-OAC player Kelsey Blatt (Tallmadge) and Mackenzie Donalson (Hilliard/ Davidson) won, 8-4. The No.2 tandem of sophomore Claire Watts (Medina/ Highland) and junior Academic All-OAC player Mackenzi Baker (Vermilion/ Elyria Catholic) won, 8-2. The No.3 pairing of freshman Shannon Finkenthal (Beahwood) and junior Hayley Peterson (Tulsa, Okla.) won by default.

In singles play, Blatt won at No.1 by the scores of 6-0 and 6-0. Watts won at No.2 by a 6-0 and 6-0 count. Donalson won at No.3 by the scores of 6-1 and 6-0. Finkenthal won at No.4 by a 6-1 and 6-2 count. Peterson at No.5 and freshman Kayla Eeg (Waterford, Pa./ Edinboro General McLane) at No.6 each won by default.

BW was unable to win either a singles or doubles match versus the Polar Bears.

The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Monday, April 13 when the they host a women's and men's non-conference doubleheader versus Grove City (Pa.) College on the "Pop" Collins Courts at 3:30 p.m. The women's and men's teams will alternate courts.

In addition, the men and women will serve hotdogs and water to all fans in attendance.
