Women’s Swimming and Diving Knocks Off Wilmington in OAC and Season Opener

BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University women's swimming and diving team opened the 2023-24 season as it defeated Wilmington College in an Ohio Athletic Conference dual meet by a final score of 142-63 in the BW Natatorium inside the Lou Higgins Center 

BW (1-0, 1-0 OAC) captured nine of 11 individual events and both relays. Wilmington (0-1, 0-1 OAC) won two individual events. 

Individuals

  • Junior All-OAC stroker Mallory Dondorfer (Mentor) won the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 1:02.12 and the 200-yard individual medley in a time of 2:17.62
  • Sophomore freestyler Rachel Fibbi (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper Saint Clair) won the 500-yard and 1000-yard freestyle in times of 5:48.12 and 11:51.60
  • Freshman diver Isabel Hershkovicz (Strongsville) captured the 1-meter five-dive and six-dive events with 142.65 and 167.30 points
  • Senior All-OAC stroker Tia Reed (Bluffton, S.C.) won the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:10.23
  • Sophomore stroker Morgan Ingalls (Erie. Pa./Harbor Creek) won the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 1:07.57
  • Freshman Ashley Slife (Westfield Center/Cloverleaf) won the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 2:12.72
  • Senior Lauren Slife (Westfield Center/Cloverleaf) finished second in the 50-yard and 100-yard freestyles in a time of 26.96 and 1:01.46

Relays

  • The 200-yard medley relay team of Ashley Slife, Reed, Dondorfer and junior freestyler Athena Pantoja (Ashtabula/Lakeside) won in a time of 1:57.70
  • The 200-yard freestyle team of Lauren Slife, Ingalls, Fibbi and freshman stroker Lainey McDaniels (Cuyahoga Falls) won in a time of 1:51.91

The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Friday, October 20 when they host a non-conference dual meet against NCAA Division II Notre Dame College at 6 p.m.
