OBERLIN, Ohio - The Baldwin Wallace University women's swimming and diving team finished sixth at the three-day Oberlin College Invitational in the Carr Pool inside the Philips Physical Education Center.
BW (7-1) was sixth of 12 teams with 439.5 points. Host Oberlin College was the champion with 734.5 points.
The Yellow Jackets individual highlights included:
- Junior Tia Reed (Bluffton, S.C.) places second in the 100-yard breaststoke with a time of 1:08.11 and second in the 200-yard breaststoke in a time of 2:31.01
- Senior Aubrey Syron (Dayton / Archbishop Alter) places 10th in the 200-yard butterfly in a time of 2:29.83
- Senior All-Ohio Athletic Conference performer Bella Ratino (Mentor/Hawken) finished third in the 2650-yard freestyle in a time of 18:33.72 and places seventh in the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 2:29.04 and finished eighth in the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 2:05.18
- Sophomore All-OAC Mallory Dondorfer (Mentor) finished third in the 200-yard individual medley in a time of 2:12.68 and places third in the 400-yard individual medley in a time of 4:49.36 and finished fourth in the 200-yard backstroke in a time of 2:14.59
- Junior Lauren Slife (Westfield Center/Cloverleaf) places 22nd in the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 26.04 seconds
- Sophomore Athena Pantoja (Ashtabula/Lakeside) finished 14th in the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 1:03.69 and 27th in the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 57.72 seconds
- Freshman Morgan Ingalls (Erie, Pa./ Harbor Creek) places 14th in the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 1:05.67
BW relays were highlighted by:
- The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Slife, junior Kate Wells (Pittsburgh, Pa. / North Hills), Reed, and Pantoja places 9th in a time of 1:44.65
- The 400-yard freestyle relay squad of Dondorfer, Wells, Slife and Pantoja places ninth in a time of 3:49.09
- The 800-yard freestyle relay team of Ratino, Freshman Rachel Fibbi (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Upper Saint Clair), Wells and Dondorfer finished fourth in a time of 8:24.82
- The 200-yard medley relay squad of Ratino, Reed, Syron and Dondorfer finished eighth in a time of 1:55.16
- The 400-yard medley relay team of Ratino, Reed, Syron and Dondorfer places fourth in a time of 4:09.54
The Yellow Jackets return to the pool on Saturday, December 3 when it hosts Malone University in the BW Natatorium inside the Lou Higgins Center.
