Thorson Earns First Career OAC Women's Swimmer of the Week Honor

UNIONTOWN, Ohio – Baldwin Wallace University freshman freestyler Allie Thorson (Amherst/Marion Steele) has been selected as the OAC Women's Swimmer of the Week for her efforts in a non-conference dual meet last week.

Thorson, who earns her first career OAC weekly honor, took home the victory in the 500-yard freestyle and was the runner-up in the 100-yard individual medley in in BW's loss to Widener (Pa.) University last Friday at the Sarasota YMCA as part of its annual Florida training trip.   She captured the lone Yellow Jacket victory in the 500-free with a time of 5:29.45 and touched the wall in the 100-IM in a career-best time of 1:06.41.   

Thorson, who has been a key factor in the Yellow Jackets early success and reason for their 5-3 record on the season, has career-best times of 1:02.30 in the 100-yard butterfly, 1:58.48 in the 200-yard freestyle, 2:15.77 in the 200-yard individual medley, 4:50.96 in the 400-yard freestyle, 5:18.83 in the 500-yard freestyle and 19:13.75 in the 1,650-yard freestyle.


BW is back in action on Saturday, January 14 when it hosts a non-conference dual meet against NCAA Division II Malone University in the BW Natatorium at 1 p.m.   The Yellow Jackets return to OAC action on Friday, January 20 when they travel to ADA for a dual meet against Ohio Northern University in the ONU Sports Center at 6 p.m.
