ADA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's and women's swimming and diving teams fell to Ohio Northern University iin an Ohio Athletic Conference dual by a final score of 142-82 in the ONU Sports Center.
BW (6-4, 2-2 OAC) was led by freshman freestyler Allie Thorson (Amherst/Marion Steele) as she won the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 2:01.69 and the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 5:30.16.
Also, securing a victory was freshman freestyler Olivia Jacob (Canton/McKinley) as she captured the 1,650-yard freestyle in a time of 19:02.32.
In addition, junior freestyler Jordyn Miller (Ann Arbor, Mich./Pioneer) placed second in the 500-yard freestyle in a season-best time of 5:43.07 and was third in the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 2:10.31. Junior freestyler Lena Kortis (Canton/Massillon Perry) was second in the 100-yard butterfly and took third in the 50-yard freestyle with times of 1:06.27 and 26.72 seconds. Freshman diver/stroker Ellie Clymer (Independence) was the runner-up in the 1-meter dive with 160.75 points. Sophomore stroker Sarah Krupp (Williamsville, N.Y./Williamsville South) was third in the 100-yard backstroke in a career-best time of 1:07.83. Sophomore freestyler Claire Onchuck (Darien, Ill. /Hinsdale South) was third in the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 59.83. Freshman stroker Erika Nockengost (Cuyahoga Falls) finished third in the 200-yard individual medley in a time of 2:23.00.
In relay action, the 200-yard freestyle quad of Miller, Clymer, Nockengost and Kortis took second in a season-best time of 1:58.81. The 200-medley relay team of Onchuck, junior freestyler Courtney Severns (Bucyrus), junior freestyler Nicole Gladish (Fairview Park/Fairview) and Thorson placed second in a season-best time of 1:50.90
The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Saturday, January 21 when they host an OAC dual meet against cross-town rival John Carroll University in the BW Natatorium at 1 p.m.
