Women’s Swimming and Diving Wins OAC Meet Against Manchester (Ind.)

BEREA, Ohio. – The Baldwin Wallace University women's swimming and diving team opened the home portion of it schedule by defeating Manchester (Ind.) University in an Ohio Athletic Conference dual meet in the BW Natatorium.

BW defeated Manchetser by a final score of 210-58.

The Yellow Jackets were led by Junior freestyler Lena Kortis (Canton/Massillon Perry) as she won three events.  Kortis captured the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 26.95 seconds, the 50-yard butterfly in a career-best time of 29.28 and the 100-yard individual medley in a time of 1:09.84.

Earning a pair of victories were freshmen diver/stroker Ellie Clymer (Independence), freshman stroker Erika Nockengost (Cuyahoga Falls) and freshman freestyler Allie Thorson (Amherst/Marion L. Steele). Clymer won the 50-yard breaststroke in a career-best time of 34.01 seconds and the 1-meter optional with a 129.85 points. Nockengost took the 200-yard butterfly in a career-best time of 2:26.91 and the 200-yard breaststroke in a career-best time of 2:40.93. Thorson won the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 2:03.98 and the 500-yard freestyle in a career-best time of 5:29.38.

Also picking up single victories were junior freestyler Nicole Gladish (Fairview Park/Fairview), junior freestyler Jordyn Miller (Ann Arbor/Pioneer), sophomore diver Elizabeth Sant (Mount Vernon), freshman freestyler Jenna Ball (Salamanca, N.Y.) and freshman freestyler Olivia Plunkett(Haddonfield, N.J.). Gladish won the 50-yard backstroke in a time of 31.91 seconds. Miller captured the 200-yard backstroke in a time of 2:22.02. Sant won the 1-meter voluntary diving with 91.95 points. Balltook the 100-yard freestyle in a career-best time of 1:00.08. Plunkett won the 1000-yard freestyle in a career-best time of 11:26.89.

In relay action, the 200-yard medley relay team of Gladish, Clymer, Nockengost and Ball touched the wall first in a time of 2:00.91.  

BW is  back in action on Saturday, November 12 as it remains at home and hosts a non-conference dual meet against Penn State Behrend College in the BW Natatorium at 1 p.m.

The Yellow Jackets close out their four meet homestand on Friday, November 18 and Saturday, November 19.  The teams first host a non-conference meet against Hiram College on Friday at 6 p.m. then close out the weekend with an OAC meet against the University of Mount Union on Saturday at 1 p.m.
