Women's Swimming and Diving Teams Falls to Cross-town Rival John Carroll in OAC Regular Season Finale

BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's and women's swimming and diving teams closed out the Ohio Athletic Conference regular season portion of its schedule as it fell to cross-town rival John Carroll University by a final score of 167-72 in the BW Natatorium inside the Lou Higgins Center.

BW was led by freshman freestyler Allie Thorson (Amherst/Marion Steele) won the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 5:26.38 and the 1,000-yard freestyle in a career-best time of 11:24.3.

In addition, freshman stroker Erika Nockengost (Cuyahoga Falls) was second in the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 1:03.87 and took third in the 200-yard freestyle in a career-best time of 2:05.27. Junior freestyler Lena Kortis (Canton/Massillon Perry) took third in the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 59.05 seconds.  Sophomore stroker Sarah Krupp (Williamsville, N.Y./Williamsville South) placed second in the 400-yard individual medley in a time of 5:06.41. Freshman diver/stroker Ellie Clymer (Independence) placed second in the five-dive 1-meter event with 129.75 points.

In relay action, the 200-yard medley relay team of Miller, Clymer, Thorson and Kortis finished second in a season-best time of 1:58.11

The Yellow Jackets close out the regular season portion of their schedule on Saturday, January 28 when it hosts a non-conference dual against Case Western Reserve University in the BW Natatorium on Seniors' and Parents' Day at 1 p.m.

The OAC Swimming and Diving Championships hosted by the University of Mount Union will be contested on February 16-18 in the Ocasek Natatorium on the campus of the University of Akron.  Prelim action is slated for 11 am on Thursday and at 10 am on Friday and Saturday.   Finals will be contested each night with action scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. on Thursday and Friday with a 5:30 p.m. start on Saturday.
