Women's Swimming and Diving Team Defeats Penn State-Behrend (Pa.)

ERIE, Pennsylvania—The Baldwin Wallace University women's swimming and diving team defeats Penn State Behrend (Pa.) College in a non-conference dual meet inside of the Junker Center.

The women's swimming and diving team won by a score of 110-77.

Leading the way for the Yellow Jacket women were sophomore freestyler Jordyn Miller (Ann Arbor, Mich./Pioneer), freshman backstroker Sarah Krupp (Williamsville, N.Y. /Williamsville South), sophomore freestyler Nicole Gladish (Fairview Park) and senior All-OAC diver Maddie Fortune (Akron/Firestone).

Miller notched two victories in the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 5:40.08 and the 1000-yard freestyle in a time of 11:42.10. Krupp finished first in the 400-yard individual medley in career-best time of 5:02.20 and first in the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:15.50. Gladish placed first in the 100-yard backstroke in a career-best time of 1:08.44. Fortune remained undefeated in the 1-meter diving event as she won with a score of 225.95 and won the 3-meter diving event  with a score of 190.60.

In addition, senior All-OAC performer Chandler Ashbaugh finished second in the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 1:02.63. Freshman swimmer Claire Onchuck  (Darien, Ill. / Hinsdale South) placed second in the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 27.34.

In relay action, the 400-yard medley relay team of Ashbaugh, Krupp, Onchuck and sophomore freestyler Lena Kortis (Canton/ Massillon Perry) won in a time of 4:23.07. The 400-yard freestyle relay team of Miller, Gladish, Kortis and senior freestyler Contessa Elliot (Ypsilanti, Mich. / Ypsilanti) finished second in a time of 4:10.91.

BW travels to Alliance, Ohio on Friday, November 20 for an Ohio Athletic Conference dual meet against Mount Union University inside the Hammond Natatorium at 6 p.m.
