Women's Swimming and Diving Team Suffers Loss to Ohio Wesleyan

BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University women's swimming and diving team opened its 2015-2016 non-conference schedule with a 132-92 loss in a dual meet against Ohio Wesleyan University in the BW Natatorium inside the Lou Higgins Center.The BW women suffered a loss of 92-132.

The BW women were led by senior All-Ohio Athletic Conference performer Chandler Ashbaugh (Napoleon), senior All-OAC diver Maddie Fortune (Akron/ Firestone) and sophomore freestyler Jordyn Miller (Ann Arbor, Mich./ Pioneer).

Ashbaugh won the 100-yard individual medley in a time of 1:04.59 and the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 1:02.96. Fortune won both diving events with scores of 172.65 and 204.55, respectively. Miller posted a win in the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 2:07.07 and placed second in the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 5:41.45.

In addition, sophomore freestyler Courtney Severns (Bucyrus) swam for a seasons-best in the 100-yard breaststroke in a wall touch of 1:18.79. Freshmen freestyler Claire Onchuck (Darien, Ill. / Hinsdale South) and freshman Sarah Krupp (Williamsville, N.Y. / Williamsville South) both had runner up finishes for the Yellow Jackets. Onchuck in the 50-yard Freestyle in a time of 26.71 and Krupp in the 100-yard Butterfly in a time of 1:05.42.

The 200-yard medley relay team of sophomore Lena Kortis (Canton/ Massillon Perry) Severns, Ashbaugh and Onchuck placed second in a time of 1:59.38.

The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Friday, October 30 when they host a non-conference  tri-meet against Bethany (W. Va.) College and Ursuline College in the BW Natatorium at 6 p.m.
