Women's Swimming and Diving Team Loses to Mount Union at OAC Dual Meet

BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University women's swimming and diving team was defeated by the University of Mount Union in an Ohio Athletic Conference dual meet in the Hammond Natatorium inside the McPherson Academic and Athletic Complex.

The Yellow Jacket women lost by a score of 126-64.

Senior All-OAC performer Chandler Ashbaugh (Napoleon) led BW with a first place finish in the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 1:02.59 and a second place finish in the 200-yard individual medley in a time of 2:20.79.

Sophomore swimmer Courtney Severns (Bucyrus) and freshman freestyler Elizabeth Sant (Mount Vernon) finished first and second in the 100-yard breaststroke. Severens finished in a time of 1:19.35 and Sant finished in a career-best time of 1:30.56.

Sophomore freestyler Nicole Gladish (Fairview Park/Fairview), freshman swimmer Sarah Krupp (Williamsville, N.Y./South) and sophomore freestyler Jordyn Miller (Ann Arbor, Mich./Pioneer) earned second place finishes. Gladish placed second in the 1000-yard freestyle with a career-best time of 13:15.96, Krupp finished second in the 100-yard backstroke with a wall touch at the 1:09.29 mark, and Miller placed second in the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 5:43.56.

In relay action Severns, freshman freestyler Mackenzie Biastre (Eden, N.Y.), Gladish and Miller placed first in the 200-yard freestyle relay in a time of 1:55.04. Senior freestyler Contessa Elliott (Ypsilanti, Mich.), freshman Rebecca Johnson(Indianapolis, Ind. / Lawrence Central), Fortune, and Sant finished second in the 200-yard freestyle relay in a time of 2:03.88.    

Senior All-OAC diver Maddie Fortune (Akron / Firestone) remains undefeated in the 1-meter dive. Fortune posted a score of 218.20.

BW returns to action on Saturday, November 21 when they travel to Gambier, Ohio for a dual meet against Kenyon College in the James A. Steen Aquatic Center at 1 p.m.
