Women’s Swimming and Diving Defeat Division II Malone

BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University women's swimming and diving teams defeated Division II Malone University in a non-conference dual meet in the BW Natatorium inside the Lou Higgins Center. 

The Yellow Jackets beat Malone by a score of 114-104.

The women were led by senior, Academic All-OAC, Chandler Ashbaugh (Napoleon). Ashbaugh finished first in the 100-yard fly with a wall touch of 1:01.50, and in the 200-yard individual medley in a time of 2:18.71. Ashbuagh, joined by sophomore Courtney Severns (Bucyrus), freshman Sarah Krupp (Williamsville, New York/ Williamsville South), and freshman Claire Onchuck (Darien, Ill./Hinsdale South) finished second in the 200-yard medley relay with a season best of 1:59.25. Onchuck placed second in the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 2:12.18, and in the 100-yard freestyle with a wall touch of 59.28. Krupp also finished second in the 100-yard backstroke with a career best time of 1:08.73. 

Sophomore, Jordyn Miller (Ann Arbor, MI/Pioneer) also swam strongly for the Yellow Jackets finishing first in the 1,000-yard free with a season best time of 11:31.38, and second in the 500-yard free with a wall touch of 5:41.02. Miller joined by sophomore Nicole Gladish (Fairview Park/Fairview), Severns, and sophomore Lena Kortis (Canton/Massillon Perry), finished first in the 200-yard freestyle relay. Diving strongly for the Yellow Jackets today was sophomore Maddie Fortune (Akron/Firestone) with a final score of 167.90 in the 1-meter dive.

BW returns to action on Friday when they host Ohio Northern University in an Ohio Athletic Conference dual meet in the BW Natatorium inside the Lou Higgins Center at 6 p.m.
