
FREDONIA, N.Y.– The Baldwin Wallace University women's swimming and diving team placed seventh out of nine teams at the three-day Blue Devil Invitational at the Fredonia (N.Y.) State inside the Steele Hall Natatorium.
BW was led by All-Ohio Athletic Conference performer Chandler Ashbaugh (Napoleon). Ashbaugh finished first in the 100-yard individual medley in a career-best time of 1:01.92, second in the 100-yard butterfly in a season-best time of 1:00.34, and ninth in the 200-yard individual medley in a season-best time of 2:14.94.
In addition the Yellow Jackets had strong performances in the finals from freshman swimmer Sarah Krupp (Williamsville, N.Y. / Williamsville South), sophomore freestyler Jordyn Miller (Ann Arbor, Mich. / Pioneer), and freshman swimmer Lena Kortis (Canton / Massillon Perry).
Krupp finished fourth in the 400-yard individual medley in a career-best time of 4:51.90 and ninth in the 200-yard backstroke in a career-best time of 2:17.88. Miller finished seventh place in the 1650-yard freestyle with a season-best time of 19:01.65 and a ninth in the 500-yard freestyle in a career-best time of 5:26.83. Kortis added another finals finish in the 100-yard butterfly with a career-best wall touch at the 1:04.92 mark.
The senior All-OAC Diver of the Year Maddie Fortune (Akron / Firestone) placed seventh in the three-meter dive with a season-best score of 340.20 and eighth in the one-meter dive with a season-best score of 330.50.
BW returns to action on January 3 when they travel to Sarasota, Florida for a tri-meet against Gardner-Webb (N.C.) University and Kenyon University inside the Lido Beach Pool at 9 a.m.
