Women’s Swimming and Diving Drops Non-Conference Dual Meet at Case Western

BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University women's swimming and diving teams were defeated in a non-conference dual meet against Case Western Reserve University inside the Veale Natatorium.

The Yellow JacketS were beat by a score of, 206-80.

Senior All-Ohio Athletic Conference swimmer Chandler Ashbaugh (Napoleon) led BW with a first place finish in the 100-yard individual medley in a time of 1:04.04, and two third place finishes in the 50-yard butterfly in a time of 28.17, and 100-yard butterfly in a time of 1:03.07. Sophomore swimmer Courtney Severns (Bucyrus) also finished third in the 100-yard breaststroke with a wall touch at the 1:17.68 mark.  

Senior OAC Diver of the Year Maddie Fortune (Akron/Firestone) finished first in the three-meter dive with a score of 200.85 and second in the one-meter dive with a score of 189.80.

In relay action Severens, sophomore swimmer Jordyn Milller (Ann Arbor, Mich. / Pioneer), freshman Lena Kortis (Canton / Massillon Perry), and Ashbaugh finished  first in the 200-yard freestyle relay in a season-best time of 1:47.83.  Freshman Mackenzie Biastre (Eden, N.Y.), freshman Rebecca Johnson (Indianapolis, Ind. / Lawrence Central), freshman Elizabeth Sant(Mount Vernon), and senior Contessa Elliott (Ypsilanti, Mich.) finished second in the 200-yard freestyle relay in a season-best time of 2:01.16.

BW next will compete in the Ohio Athletic Conference Championships at Akron University inside the Ocasek Natatorium on February 18-20. Day-one will begin on at 11 a.m. and continue at 6 p.m.
