BW Women Swimmers Win in Season Opener

WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University women's swimming and diving teams opened the 2014-15 season with an Ohio Athletic Conference dual meet victory at Wilmington College, 109-95, in the Wilmington Natatorium.

The women's team was led by junior All-OAC and Academic All-OAC swimmer Chandler Ashbaugh (Napoleon) and freshman Jordyn Miller (Ann Arbor, Mich. / Pioneer) who each won two individual races and swam on the winning 200-meter medley relay squad.   Sophomore Carly Croyle (Avon) also was an individual winner.

Ashbaugh won the 200-meter individual medley in a time of 2:40.69 and the 100-meter butterfly in 1:14.58.   Miller won the 200-meter freestyle in a time of 2:19.34 and the 400-meter free in 4:56.79. The duo combined with senior Olivia Vocke (Napoleon) and freshman Allison Seemann (Napoleon) to win the 200-meter medley relay in 2:14.97. In addition, Croyle won the 100-meter backstroke in 1:17.72.

The Yellow Jackets are back in action tomorrow, Sunday, October 26 when it travels to Delaware for a non-conference dual meet against Ohio Wesleyan University at 11 a.m.  Next Saturday, November 8, BW travels to Bethany, West Virginia for a tri-meet at Bethany College against the Bison and Penn State Altoona at 1 p.m. The first home dual meet is on Saturday, Nov. 15 when the Jackets host Penn State-Behrend University in the BW Natatorium in the Lou Higgins Center at 1 p.m.
