BW Women’s Swimming and Diving Team Win Against Hiram

BEREA, Ohio -- The Baldwin Wallace University women's swimming and diving team beat non-conference opponent Hiram College in the BW Natatorium in the Lou Higgins Center.  The Yellow Jacket women defeated the Terriers, 123-89.

The women (5-3 overall) had six individual winners, three runner-up finishes and five third place finishes. The women also had a first place relay team.

The women were led by senior All-Ohio Athletic Conference swimmer Kayla Eyster (Canton, Mich./ Plymouth-Canton), freshman  Jordyn Miller (Ann Arbor, Mich./ Pioneer) and junior Academic All-OAC and All-OAC swimmer Chandler Ashbaugh (Napoleon).  The trio each won two events and swam on a winning relay team.  

Eyster won the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:45.60 and the 200-yard free in 2:08.35.  Miller won the 1000- yard free in 11:33.03 and the 100-yard free in 58.84 seconds. Ashbaugh won the 200-yard individual medley in 2:25.59 and the 100-yard butterfly in 1:05.73. Joining the trio on the victorious 200-yard medley relay team in 2:00.44 was senior Olivia Vocke (Napoleon).  

In addition, junior Contessa Elliott (Ypsilanti, Mich) won the 1-meter diving event with a career-high 173.05 points and placed second in the 100-yard backstroke in 1:14.43.  

The Yellow Jackets are idle next week and will return to action on December 5-7 when they travel to Fredonia, New York to compete at the Annual Fredonia State Blue Devil Invitational.  Prelims begin each day at 10 a.m. and finals take place at 4 p.m.
