BW Women's Swimming Sweeps at Bethany (W. Va.) Quad

BETHANY, W. Va. – The Baldwin Wallace University women's swimming and diving teams swept all three duals at the Bethany (W. Va.) College non-conference quad meet in the Knight Natatorium.

The Yellow Jackets defeated Bethany by a score of 110-98, Penn State-Altoona by a score of 138-68 and Defiance by a score of 130-58. The results versus Defiance did not count in Ohio Athletic Conference standings.  BW and Defiance will swim its OAC dual meet in January.

The Yellow Jackets had five individual, two relay teams winners and two runner-up finishes.    Junior All-OAC and Academic All-OAC swimmer Chandler Ashbaugh (Napoleon) and freshman Jordyn Miller (Ann Arbor, Mich. /Pioneer) led the way with two individual wins each and also were members of the 200-yard medley relay team.  Junior Contessa Elliott (Ypsilanti, Mich.) was also an individual winner.

won the 200-yard individual medley in a season-best time of 2:23.38 and the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 1:05.42.  Miller had career-best times as she won the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 2:02.32 and the 500-yard freestyle in 5:30.01.   Elliott competing in just her second diving competition won the 1-meter dive with a career-best 157.70 points.

and Miller combined with sophomore Carly Croyle (Avon) and senior Olivia Vocke (Napoleon) to win the 200-yard medley relay in a season-best time of 2:01.60.   Croyle then teamed up with senior Kayla Eyster (Canton, Mich. / Plymouth-Canton) and freshmen Nicole Gladish (Fairview Park/Fairview) and Alison Seemann (Napoleon) to win the 200-yard freestyle relay in a season-best time of 1:52.11.

Croyle
and Eyster also had runner-up finishes in season-best times.  Croyle was second in the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 1:08.55 and Eyster was second in the 1000-yard freestyle in a time of 11:58.16.

BW is back in action on Saturday, November 15 when it opens the home portion of their schedule The Yellow Jackets remain at home for dual meets with the University of Mount Union on Friday, November 21 at 6 p.m. and a Hiram College on Saturday, November 22 at 1 p.m.
