BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University women's soccer team ended its regular season portion of its schedule as it tied with Capital University by a final score of 2-2 on the Tressel Field inside the George Finnie Stadium.
BW (8-8-2, 4-4-1 OAC) will enter the Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament as the fifth seed and will travel to Bexley for an OAC Tournament quarterfinal match against fourth-seeded Capital (10-6-3, 5-2-2 OAC) on Tuesday, October 31 on Purmort Field inside Bernlohr Stadium at 7 p.m.
BW Leaders
- Junior All-Ohio Athletic Conference defender Ella Barth (Highland/Mayfield) scored a go-ahead goal with two minutes left to play
- Senior All-OAC forward Sydney Rice (North Royalton) recorded one goal giving her the conference lead in goals scored on the season with 14
- Senior Academic All-OAC midfielder Jillian Neal (Fairlawn/Copley) and Rice led the Yellow Jackets with three shots each
- Junior Academic All-OAC goalkeeper Katie Scott (Lewis Center/Olentangy) had a total of eight saves on the night
Capital Leaders
- Senior forward Lexi Snyder scored with 33 seconds left in the game to end the game in a tie while also recording eight shots, four being on goal
- Sophomore midfielder Ryanne Michel scored one goal
- The Capital defense only allowed one shot on goal in the first half, which was saved by sophomore goalkeeper Liv Alford, and only three shots on goal on the night
- Senior midfielder Sophia Leonetti recorded one assist
First Half (0-0)
- Scott was perfect in the first half with five saves
Second Half (2-2)
- 62:46 - Rice found the back of the net to give the Yellow Jackets the lead
- 84:44 - BW committed an own goal accredited to Michel
- 87:57 - Barth put the Jackets back on top with a goal off a penalty kick
- 89:27 - Leonetti passed it to Snider to tie things up for good
