Two Second Half Goals Lift Women’s Soccer Past Oberlin

BEREA, Ohio—The Baldwin Wallace University women's soccer team defeated Oberlin College ,2-0, in a non-conference game on Tressel Field inside George Finnie Stadium.

BW was led by junior midfielder Alex Elliott (Blacklick / IMG Academy) and junior forward Courtney Schutz (Mentor) as each scored a goal apiece for the Yellow Jackets.  

After a scoreless first half, BW opened the scoring when junior defender Lauren Haynam (Minerva) crossed the ball to Elliott at the 61:40 mark. In the 86th minute, Schutz put the game out of reach when she beat the Yeowomen goalkeeper from long range.  

Freshman goalkeeper Sophia Weidner (Medina) improved to 2-0 on the year.  

The Yellow Jackets are back in action on September 9-10 when they travel to Fredonia, New York for the Blue Devil Tournament. On day one, BW will play the host Fredonia State (N.Y.) at 3:30 p.m. and on day two the Yellow Jackets will face Oswego State (N.Y.) at 1:30 p.m.
