BW Drops Season Opener to Geneseo (N.Y.) at PSB Tourney

ERIE, Pa.- - The 2014 Baldwin Wallace University women's soccer team dropped its season-opener to SUNY Geneseo (N.Y.), 2-0, in the first round of the annual Penn State Behrend University Herb Lauffer Memorial Tournament on the PS-Behrend Socer Field on Saturday afternoon.

The Yellow Jackets (0-1) were led by junior goalkeeper Emily Tallmadge (Fairview, Pa./ Fairview), who had 11 saves in a losing effort.  

In the first half, BW played tough defense with Tallmadge leading the way and saving four shots in net.  The Knights first goal came late in the first half at the 44:46 mark when freshman Leah Greene scored from 12 yards out in the left lower corner of the goal.  

In the second half, Geneseo (1-0) converted on its second goal of the match at the 66:15 mark when senior midfielder/ forward, Jori Semrau scored from the top right corner of the net off of a pass from Greene to close out the scoring and give the Knights a 2-0 win.  

BW will be back in action tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 p.m. when the Yellow Jackets will square off against Penn State- Behrend. BW's 2014 home-opener is on Tuesday, Sept. 2 when it hosts Ohio Wesleyan University on the Tressel Field pitch at The George Finnie Stadium at 7 pm.
